Radio Drama

Hatchery Writers does not have a radio drama subgroup but Brighton Theatre of the Air comes close to being one: several members are in both groups.


BTOTA meet every Monday, 8 to 10pm, at Vallance Community Centre, 2 Conway Court, Sackville Rd, Hove, BN3 3WR.


Brighton Theatre of the Air are a friendly bunch of people who share a love of radio and are keen to explore new ideas, to develop skills in voice acting, directing and writing for radio.

BTOTA are keen to record radio plays by local writers. Scripts of 10 to 20 minutes’ length are always welcome.  If you have a radio play or an idea for one, just contact:

GREAT NEWS.  Brighton Theatre of the Air is on air – in Europe. FM Radio Talk Radio Europe (TRE) is playing tracks from our audio anthology – Love is in the Air. On Feb 20, they played An Ideal Husband at 19.52 and The Romance of a Busy Broker at 20.52.  Feb 22 and 23, The Bickersons at 19.50.  Feb 24, To His Coy Mistress at 20.55.  All available on 7-Day Catch Up:

February 14, 2018 – Tracks from Brighton Theatre of the Air’s compilation – Love is in the Air – were played on Brighton and Hove Community Radio throughout the day in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

They say that everyone loves a love story. Our first recording, Love is in the Air, is a cornucopia of humorous, inspiring and poignant pieces on the theme of love – aimed at appealing to a variety of tastes.  We’ve even included a poem. Enjoy.
